Dreams with Plots in their Hands

Or, plot holes, at least. I had a weird dream that might be a Stargate SG-1 media tie-in novel, though without any of the bad guys (or, come to think of it, many of the characters) from the show. But there was a thingamabob that zipped you to the other side of the galaxy! And it had the chevron-encoding sound effects!

And funky-shaped robot killers and people running into some non-human structure that naturally had human-appropriate restrooms, and this path out the window going up into the trees made out of something like...what's that tar paper stuff you put on roofs under shingles? That stuff.
