I had a *world* idea
Oct. 29th, 2005 03:11 pmAnd I *like* it.
All I need now is a *story* idea that'll go with it.
Lets see, now...what are the traditional plots?
* boy meets girl/girl meets boy.
* old guy with beard and pointy hat shows up and sends/takes hero(ine) on a Mighty Quest with Doughty Companions and many Learning Experiences that Change Them Forever. I.e., they grow up.
* hero(ine) goes through many tribulations (possibly even a quest), and finds out they're the lost prince(ss)/wizard/child of diety/whatever, abducted or otherwise 'lost', lo, those many years ago.
* ...
I had a moment just now when I thought to myself, hey now, I bet you could articulate all the basic plots of human storytelling just by naming an appropriate Dickens novel. But then it passed, thankfully.
I'm leaning toward #3, I think. This idea will go in the 3rd/4th slot, I think, in my December Pile o' Writing.
1. Novel.
2. Elvis alien story.
3. the abduction thing I was pondering this summer, or this idea.
4. whichever is the 'other' of the above item.
5. Re-write of 'The Ghost of the Old Theatre'. Though, that can probably fit into 'resting' periods throughout #1.
As
feetmonkey pointed out, it's snowing here in Boston today. Arctic creature feline seems pleased, or not displeased (it's so hard to tell, with cats). Tropical creature feline appears less than thrilled.
I wish I had some dressy winter wear. Of course, while I'm wishing, I might as well wish for knee high boots that fit.
What the hell. And a pony, too, while I'm going around wishing.
What if wishes really *were* horses? Would beggars actually ride?
