Saw a bootleg "Thor" trailer
Aug. 14th, 2010 01:26 pmNot sure what I think about it. I mean, there's some language choices that bugged me right off the bat, like "soldier" rather than "warrior" which is what I think would be more appropriate. I'm also confused about the character arc implied by the trailer, although it appears to synchronize at least somewhat with the 1960s-era Thor storyline. I was never a big Avengers comic fan, myself, I was an x-men kind of girl. I'm confused because its difficult to reconcile that perceived arc with the historical tales of Thor, which are of personal import to me. And yet, it's a movie based on a comic book, you know? What's the big deal, Sid? Well, people don't engage in religious practice involving Spider-Man, you know? Or at least, not that I know of.
I'm not sure I'll watch the movie.
Hm. Come to think of it, Clash of the Titans didn't bug me, as a kid (it might now, especially the remake), because the gods stayed true to what I knew of them, and it was the legend of Perseus, a known story with the gods and the heroes behaving in a certain way. This is not the storytelling of any of the tales of Thor proper. As noted above, this is just a movie based on a comic book about a guy sharing some characteristics with a major member of an important religious pantheon.
Weird.
