Books! Acquired for Free!
Nov. 2nd, 2005 07:02 pmThe law library was unloading a few things:
The Private Life of a New South Lawyer: Stephen Croom's 1875-1876 Journal published by the University of Alabama School of Law.
Inside Justice Hugo L. Black: The Letters, by John P. Frank. Frank was Black's clerk from 1942-43. This is volume 2 of Tarlton Law Library's Legal History Series.
Now, I know, people might look at this and say 'ew'. But I look at this, and say, as a lawyer: context! and the study of a Supreme Court Justice's mind! (An important task.)
And, I look at this as a writer and say: ooo, cheap verisimilitude for future stories! Can't beat that.
Two other books, both on Justice Douglas, I brought as an offering to one of my professors who has written on Douglas at some length. The offering was accepted.
