On the broader scale: FOR US TO NOT INVADE ANY MORE COUNTRIES FOR A WHILE, GODDAMMIT.

On the smaller scale:

* New dishes (alas, poor old dishes, you've served me well, and suffered much attrition over the years). (See Amazon wishlist.)
* Licorice, in the quantity of "some".
* Tea. A lot. (Yogi Tea's no-caff selections, rooibus, "white" green tea, and maybe a small tin of Irish or English breakfast tea for when I need a kick in the chest).
* Maple-sugar candy, but not a lot.
* Sweatpants (not sweatshirts, just sweatpants).
* Expensive shoes (the only kind for walking-intensive Boston).
* Maybe a bigger teapot, too.
* Food from Alaska, like some decent dead deer, moose, elk, caribou, or fish. *Sigh*. Probably have to talk to Auntie Claus about that.
* A decent stoneware crock for my sourdough starter, that can hold a good 5-10 cups of the stuff.
* A Mac-compatible printer (eMac, running Leopard), alas, as I've been without a printer since, ohhh, way too long.
* Vino from local (New England) vineyards. I'm a big fan of eating/drinking regionally. (Except for when I'm jonesing for food from home.)
* And, since someone reminded me, the following two Doctor Who novels: The Seeing Eye, and Vampire Science.

I need more work clothes, too, but that's generally something I have to deal with myself, given my impossible (or perhaps just impracticable) dimensions. I wish I could find someone via eBay in Pakistan or India to make me western-style clothes to my measurements, rather than just salwar kameez (which I love, but can't really wear to work much).

(ETA: OK, I've just discovered a bespoke tailor that does some nice women's suits in raw silk for about $200. I'll probably have to wait until Jan/Feb to place an order, or maybe even until I know what I'm doing for a living after this fellowship, but dang! Behold the power of Google. What the hell search string was I using last time that *didn't* turn these guys up? http://del.icio.us/sidravitale/bespoke or http://del.icio.us/sidravitale/clothing.)

In other news, I'm much intrigued by the thought of learning to make cannoli for Christmas. I think it would be fun for all involved, and quite tasty!
