Sometimes it's OK to pimp yourself out

This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

juliabk's footsteps and patting myself on the back for five original fics instead:
1) "The Song of the Ghost Ship": Honorable Mention, I think, in a Writers of the Future contest, and I love it b/c I think it's the first time I consciously tried a lot of things: a non-white main character, linguistic toying, characters based physically on people I know (I said physically, dammit -- Fiore has Janis' hair and frame, and Jascha Lang from "My Daughter, the Martian", WOTF XXI is based physically and tempermentally on an old friend and former work colleague, Bill Richards, only Jascha's hair is more unruly), which somehow makes things much more real for me, as a writer. Or easier for me to make real.
2) "A Footfall of Cats": my first sale. Cats, egyptian mythology, and the folks at Weird Tales said "this is good" even though they didn't buy it, and it was the very first thing I'd ever sent out and they still liked it. Ty Drago at Peridot Books (now, AllegoryZine) finally picked it up.
3) "The Perfect House": a children's story that I've always been fond of, though no one's ever read it. I always envisioned it drawn by the artist who did Jane Yolen's "Piggins".
4) "The Moonlife Transmissions": a short series based on a former incarnation of the pop band "Moonlife". I'm friends with Claudio, the band's founder, and I just jammed out this little thing one afternoon, and got a big kick out of it. With a villain named "Dr. DisChordia", what's not to love? I wrote these cute little fake biographies for them, too. That was so gosh-darned fun.
Number 5? A piece of erotica that if it ever sees the light of day will not be under my own name. But damn, I love the first line. ( cut for PG-13 rated material )
