progress, after a fashion
Aug. 27th, 2006 11:48 am* One short article for Due Process (the law school student magazine).
* Article ideas and putting people together for Due Process.
* Reading multiple Law Journal submissions -- I have all but one read from the current stack, but Editor-i-Chief tells me there's another one he hasn't sent 'round to us yet.
* An article I'm editing will be one of the first we process this semester. I think it's a good choice -- it's a straightforward read, and well-cited. The new Associates shouldn't find this one too daunting.
* Long hours spent socializing with people during first-year orientation over Wednesday/Thursday. Over 25 people signed up for info about the Environmental Law Society over Wednesday/Thursday. And only about 5 of those signed up b/c they knew me.
* Reception on Thursday night. Oatmeal cookies. Said hi to various profs I wanted to say hi to, and gave what I hope is good advice to some students.
(Bear in mind, I am an introvert. I do not draw my energy from socializing. I'm pleased by the end of the night on Thursday that I had no headache, though I was quite, quite tired, I wasn't crawl-in-a-cave and collapse tired.)
* Orientation for Law Journal's new Associates on Wednesday night. Afterwards, I took the leftover pizza down to Arlington Street Church. More orientation on Saturday. (Free brekkies *and* lunch, though!) I'm supposed to get some extra points from Westlaw and Lexis for having attended, which is nice. (I spend all *my* free points on DVDs.)
* I read Journal submissions during Saturday's Orientation. And, dropped off two boxes of Larabars in my locker, for lunches/snacks in the future. (I mostly use my locker for my food and tea stash. Instant oatmeal, granola bars, and tea bags.)
* One of the new Associates on the Law Journal is an alum of my undergraduate university.
* Verdammt new printer system at the school is on the fritz, so I couldn't print my application to McG & Associates. Must do Monday.
* Spent Friday calling around looking for a placement to do my environmental law clinical work, including the place above.
* I ordered a ton of Yogi Tea off Amazon (all tea bags instead of looseleaf, alas), since I had a gift card and they were having an intro-to-Amazon-Grocery-discount, so that was $20 off, total. Plus, I bought a Thermos.
* Can't attend the opening meeting for Environmental Law Clinic on Wednesday, b/c I'll be in class. Have scheduled separate meeting w/Prof.
* Have to bug Prof () about recommendation letter due Sept 5 for federal clerkships. Better remind Prof || as well.
* Spent money on ABA and BBA memberships and made sure to join Environmental sections.
* Ethics, and UCC Sales start tomorrow, so, I'd best read for them today, eh?
* Got a letter about the school's free bar prep program. Well, there go my Saturday mornings.
* Need to schedule meeting with Prof () to talk about Enviromental Moot Court.
* Need to schedule time to go to Environmental Law class to tell them about Environmental Law Society and leave behind a bunch of flyers.
* I'm hungry and want something bad for me for breakfast, well, no, now it's lunch. Doesn't matter what, just bad for me. I want some down-home comfort food. Or cheap Chinese. Maybe a burrito, but it has to be one of the frozen ones you cook in the oven.
Crap. Classes don't start until tomorrow and I'm already swamped. Plus, my Land Use professor hasn't told us what the book is or provided a syllabus or a first assignment. I've checked everywhere I can think of. Wha??
