Jul. 5th, 2006 09:43 pmA good writer day in the sense that the last time I worked on Mitch was a year ago. It's time to blow the dust off and finish him. But it's a much shorter book, it won't be over 140 pages, and those just don't seem to be popular these days.
Progress Notes July 5, 2006:
Mitch Chevrolet, Supernatural P.I.
Janis should be pleased. I'm finishing Mitch this summer. That's official.
New Words: 500
Total Words: 32,250 (27,111 Word wordcount)
Pages: 129
Deadline: July 15
Scenes left: three or four
Reason for stopping: Too damn tired
Stimulants: iced homemade decaf coffee with a little spoonful of soya powder as my 'creamer'.
Exercise: sitting on the stoop with my neighbors
Mean Things: Bad smells down on the waterfront, because the garbage scow in the harbor got set on fire.
Darling du jour: The girl didn't have Eyes' eyes, but they did the job, looking him over and coming to some kind of conclusion.
Books in progress: Hmm. I just re-read Susan Cannon Harris' Women on Fire trilogy (Taken Child, Another Country, Darkness Bright). I re-read Mansfield Park (Jane Austen), and Lois Bujold's Paladin of Souls and Diplomatic Immunity. Nothing new. It's summer, my brain keeps trying to melt and I'm having a really...interesting case of my parasomnia/night terrors thingamajig.
The glamour: Neighbor kids! On the front stoop! The neighbor guy who's a big soccer fan! Last night's fireworks, viewed from the roof!
The Divided Country
Made all the edits I'd done on the printout. Now I need to go through the rest of the printout, and then enter *those* edits. And then...unless I find a major problem in the interim...decide where to sent the manuscript/sample. Tor maybe, or DAW?
