The irritating thing about being notorious for your independence is that when you WANT people to give you gifts, they never, ever do. I'd love it if someone just took it into their head to send me flowers. (Or money, let's be honest. Actually, what I've always secretly wanted is one of those fruit or veg of the month club things, but they're probably more food than one person can eat in a month on her own, and god knows I don't have time to entertain. Whatever.)
So, it took a school year and a couple months to accumulate enough LexisNexis[*] points to redeem for a copy of the theatrical release of LOTR:Return of the King and just now, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which I never even got to SEE in theaters, dammit. But now I'll finally have my own copy. Widescreen, naturally. Yaaaaay.
Man, I'm petty. And cheap. I could have just bought them, but that's grocery money, you know?
So. How long will take me to point up to order Spiderman 2[**], which I checked out from the library over the summer and LOVED LOVED LOVED? End of the school year, maybe? I get some points for this training thing I have to go to today for law journal. So, who knows? I'll just have to wait until I'm a wage earner to get the extended edition of ROTK, I guess.
[*]LexisNexis and Westlaw are the two online research systems for law, and have a little 'point system' that racks up as you use them and can be redeemed for stuff. Lexis has a relationship with Amazon, evidently. Westlaw's stuff is not as exciting. At this rate, I'll have enough points for a nice watch when I graduate. Golly. But then I can tell people, "I went to law school and all I got was this watch." heheheeh.
[**] Edited to add: the answer is "whine on LJ so a friend sends you an Amazon gift certificate". Yaaaay for friends! Yaaaay for Spiderman!
