No more []'s in the text! Thank you, internet. I've been calling the book 'done' - in the sense of a complete story - since writing it in May/June, but now I feel like it's even more done.

Now, that doesn't mean it won't need more work.

Like, do I add an assassination attempt during the not quite royal progress through the northern districts? I think the answer is "only if it gets F to love the land, because that's the emotional commitment he needs to make before C goes to free Pallemo".

This may be one of those things I need someone else to tell me. Hm......

This is one of those times when I really wish that my printer hadn't up and croaked on me during exams in May. I need to print this puppy out.

(I made this entry to another blog that I've decided not to follow through with.)

Not so many today. Yesterday I walked into town, about a 4-5 mile hike, and it felt great. Today, I started writing a story whose idea comes directly from Papa, topically and timing-wise, as I actually had the idea while in Alaska, and it's about a musician.

So, today, a good day, though I did get just completely sobby over the lost-parent theme in Spider-Man 2.

Yesterday, a decent day. Bawled during Apollo 13. It's not like I don't know they make it back alive. Still. Completely lost it watching the Children of Dune miniseries. Especially when Alia said "I want my brother", because that's who I wanted more than anything when I was in Galway after finding out about Papa. I narrowed everything down to seeing him, and we were together for what, 24 hours?

It was, and wasn't, enough. We didn't even get to go through Papa's things together. It felt so, so wrong doing that without him, and yet I'm so terribly glad Tammy and I were able to do all that "heavy lifting", so he didn't have to go through it.

I never felt the distance between us before, and from Ireland, and now Boston, I am acutely aware of it.

And just in time, too, with this workshop thing starting Sunday.

Working on a story, yeah, baby. I actually got the idea when I was up in Alaska, talking to my cousin S.L., about her violin.

ETA: one story, finished. I'll give it a day to marinate and try to send it out on Friday. Weird Tales, maybe?
